    Water abstractions: gross abstractions as percentage of internal resources

    The indicator calculates the percentage of water withdrawal from surface and ground waters considered as "internal resources" within state borders. By definition water abstractions are waters removed from any source, either permanently or temporarily.

    World Protected Areas (WDPA)

    The indicator tracks protected areas as compiled by the WPDA. The IUCN defines a protected area as a “a clearly defined geographical space, recognised, dedicated and managed, through legal or other effective means, to achieve the longterm conservation of nature with associated ecosystem services and cultural values.” Information on designation, administrative and level of responsibility, and spatial scale are also provided.

    Gender equality index

    The Gender Equality Index is a unique measurement tool that synthesises the complexity of gender equality as a multi-dimensional concept into a user-friendly and easily interpretable measure. It is formed by combining gender indicators, according to a conceptual framework, into a single summary measure. It consists of six core domains (work, money, knowledge, time, power and health) and two satellite domains (intersecting inequalities and violence).
