    Long-term unemployment rate, by sex   

    The overall percentage of the total active population which is unemployed, and broken down by sex. Long-term unemployed (12 months and more) comprise persons aged at least 15, who are not living in collective households, who will be without work during the next two weeks, who would be available to start work within the next two weeks and who are seeking work (have actively sought employment at some time during the previous four weeks or are not seeking a job because they have already found a job to start later).

    Self reported unmet need for medical examination or treatment, by income quintile   

    "This indicator is defined as the share of the population reporting that at least once in the previous 12 months they could not afford medical examination or treatment." The potential answers are problems of access (could not afford to, waiting list, too far to travel) or other (could not take time, fear, wanted to wait and see, didn't know any good doctor or specialist, other).

    Volunteering and Intergenerational Solidarity

    Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote goodness or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or community served

    Arrears (mortgage or rent, utility bills or hire purchase)

    Percentage of population in arrears. People who are in arrears of their mortgage or rent, utility bills or hire purchase.

    Level of citizens' confidence in EU institutions

    The level of citizens confidence in EU institutions (Council of the European Union, European Parliament and European Commission) is expressed as the share of positive opinions (people who declare that they tend to trust) about the institutions.

    How would you rate the quality of health services?

    This indicator is based on a question surveying the quality of the national health care system. Respondents choose on scale of one to ten, with 10 being of very high quality and 1 being of very low quality. The other two non-numerical options are "don't know" and "refusal."

    Trust in the police

    The indicator is a direct measure of a poll on public perception on the level of police services. Respondents were asked to share their level of personal trust on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being complete trust and 1 having no trust at all.

    The indicator measures difficulty in seeing a doctor because of cost being prohibitive. Respondents can choose from "very difficult", "a little difficult" to "not difficult at all."

    Quality of national health service

    Participants were asked to grade the quality of health services in their country on a scale of 1 to 10, with "10" ranked best and "1" ranked worst. Other answers included refusal to answer or do not know.

    Gini Coefficient

    Gini Coefficient(also known as the Gini index or Gini ratio) measures the extent to which the distribution of income or consumption expenditure among individuals or households within an economy deviates from a perfectly equal distribution. A Gini index of 0 represents perfect equality, while an index of 100 implies perfect inequality. (The lower its value, the more equally household income is distributed.)
