    Biological quality of lakes

    This indicator represents the Cyanobacteria percentage of total phytoplankton biomass. This is an indicator of eutrophication.

    Ecological Footprint

    The Ecological Footprint represents the productive area required to provide the renewable resources humanity is using, as well the area required to absorb the waste emitted.

    Emissions of primary particulates — outlook from LRTAP

    This indicator tracks trends and presents projections in emissions of primary particulate PM10 and PM2,5.
    "PM10" means particulate matter which passes through a size-selective inlet with a 50 % efficiency cut-off at 10 mm aerodynamic diameter;
    "PM2,5" means particulate matter which passes through a size-selective inlet with a 50 % efficiency cut-off at 2,5mm aerodynamic diameter.

    Energy-related emissions of particulate matter

    Combination of primary PM10 data, and emissions of secondary PM10 precursors (SO2 and NOx and NH3) weighted using aerosol formation factors (according to de Leeuw, 2002) NOx = 0.88, SO2 = 0.54 and NH3 = 0.64. Gaps in reported data have been filled by EEA/ETC-ACC where necessary using simple interpolation techniques.

    Invasive alien species in Europe

    Number of the listed 'worst' terrestrial and freshwater invasive alien species in each country". (EEA, from the title of figure 4 from http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/indicators/invasive-alien-species (http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps/indicators/invasive-alien-species...)

    Soil erosion by water - area eroded by more than 10 tonnes per hectare per year

    The indicator assesses the soil loss by water erosion processes (rainsplash, sheetwash and rills) and gives an indication of the area affected by a certain rate of soil erosion (moderate to severe, i.e. >10 tonnes/hectare/year in the OECD definition). This area is expressed in km2 and as a percentage of the total non-artificial area in the country.

    Water productivity (GDP/Water Footprint)

    "The indicator illustrates the amount of economic value generated by unit of water consumption. It is calculated as GDP (in Purchasing Power Standards /PPS) divided by the Water Footprint (WF) of a country."

    Fresh Water Resources

    Internal flow and actual external inflow of surface and groundwater in millions of cubic metres per thousands inhabitants.

    Happy Planet Index rank order

    The HPI measures the extent to which countries deliver long, happy, sustainable lives for the people that live in them. The Index uses global data on life expectancy, experienced well-being and Ecological Footprint to calculate this.

    The index is an efficiency measure, it ranks countries on how many long and happy lives they produce per unit of environmental input.

    Environmental Vulnerability Index

    The Environmental Vulnerability Index is a measure to characterize the relative severity of various types of environmental issues suffered by individual nations and some regions of the planet.

    Wildlife Picture Index

    The Wildlife Picture Index (WPI) combines photos from camera traps and relevant environmental data to understand how well efforts to protect biodiversity are functioning. It was designed to address the need for robust biodiversity monitoring indicators to fulfill the Convention on Biological Diversity’s goal to reduce the rate of biodiversity loss by 2020.

    Proportion of annual renewable freshwater resources stored in reservoirs in European countries

    The indicator shows the proportion of annual renewable freshwater resources stored in reservoirs in European countries

    Energy Resources

    It presents statistics for reserves, and production of various energy resources at the global level.

    Resource Efficiency Scoreboard

    The Resource efficiency scoreboard is a tool / user interface for presenting key indicators relating to natural resources. For this scoreboard, a limited set of already available indicators was selected, covering as many as possible of the themes and subthemes identified in the Roadmap to a resource efficient Europe. It is a three tier system based on a lead indicator, a dashboard of indicators and a set of theme specific indicators:
    - One Lead indicator – focus on resource productivity
    - 9 Dashboard indicators with focus on carbon, water and land;

    GHG emissions intensity (CO2e/GDP)

    "This indicators illustrates the amount of GHG emissions generated per unit of GDP. It is calculated as total GHG emissions (expressed in CO2 equivalents) divided by GDP (expressed in Purchasing Power Standards/PPS)."
