    Ecolabel licenses

    This indicator is defined as the number of Ecolabel or "EU Flower" licences in European countries. The Community Ecolabel is awarded to products and services with reduced environmental impacts. It is administered by the European Commission and receives the support of all EU Member States and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Ecolabel criteria are discussed in the European Union Ecolabelling Board (EUEB) whose membership includes representatives from industry, environmental protection groups, consumer organisations and representatives for SMEs.

    Dwellings in Deficient State of Repair

    Percentage of households living in a dwelling with at least one of the following deficiencies: leaky roof, dampness, rot in window frames or floors.

    Net social protection as a percentage of GDP

    "Net social protection benefits are defined as the value of social protection benefits excluding taxes and social contributions paid by the benefits recipients. They are complemented by the value of “Fiscal benefits” provided in the form of tax breaks that would be defined as social protection benefits, if they were provided in cash. Tax breaks promoting the provision of social protection or promoting private insurance plans are excluded.

    The inclusive wealth index measures all the assets from which human well-being is derived, including manufactured, human and natural capital, i.e. a nation’s capacity to maintain human well-being over time.

    Demand-based CO2 productivity

    Real national income per unit of CO2 emitted at various stages of production of the goods and services consumed in domestic final demand, irrespective of where the stages of production occurred. Trends in emissions on this basis serve as a diagnostic complement to the more traditional production based measures.
