    Trust in the police

    The indicator is a direct measure of a poll on public perception on the level of police services. Respondents were asked to share their level of personal trust on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being complete trust and 1 having no trust at all.

    Eco-innovation Index

    Unweighted mean of 16 indicators from eight contributors in five areas: eco-innovation inputs, eco-innovation activities, eco-innovation outputs, environmental outcomes and socio-economic outcomes.

    Recycling rate of municipal waste (%)

    The recycling rate is the tonnage recycled from municipal waste divided by the total municipal waste arising.
    Recycling includes material recycling, composting and anaerobic digestion. Municipal waste consists to a large extent of waste generated by households, but may also include similar wastes generated by small businesses and public institutions and collected by the municipality

    Unpaid voluntary work through a political or charitable organisation

    Percentage by country of respondents to the European Quality of Life Survey who said that they did unpaid voluntary work through political or charitable organisations regularly (every week or month), occasionally (less than once a month) or that they do not volunteer.

    Average response to survey question: "All things considered, how satisfied would you say you are with your life these days" in the European Quality of Life Survey"

    Difficulty in seeing a doctor because of cost of seing the doctor

    The indicator measures difficulty in seeing a doctor because of cost being prohibitive. Respondents can choose from "very difficult", "a little difficult" to "not difficult at all."

    Quality of public transport

    Average scores by country from responses to a question on the European Quality of Life Survey which asks respondents to rate the quality of public services in their country on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 means very poor quality and 10 means very high quality.

    Respondents were asked if they strongly agree, agree, neither agree or disagree, disagree or strongly disagree with the statement "I feel left out of society."

    Environmental Performance Index

    Environmental Performance Index is an indicator that measures environmental performance compared to two main objectives: Environmental Health and Ecosystem Vitality. Environmental Health measures the protection of human health from environmental harm. Ecosystem Vitality measures ecosystem protection and resource management. These two objectives are further divided into nine issue categories that span high-priority environmental policy issues, including air quality, forests, fisheries, and climate and energy, among others.

    Environmental Sustainability Index

    The Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI) is a measure of overall progress towards environmental sustainability, developed for 146 countries. The index provides a composite profile of national environmental stewardship based on a compilation of 21 indicators derived from 76 underlying data sets.

    Global Green Economy Index

    The Global Green Economy Index comprises the Green Perception Survey and the Green Performance Index. Themes investigated are environmental performance, climate change, natural capital, environmental industries and investment, and leadership on these issues.

    Inclusive Wealth Index

    The inclusive wealth index measures all the assets from which human well-being is derived, including manufactured, human and natural capital, i.e. a nation’s capacity to maintain human well-being over time.
